TEREX commences a new plant in Sipcot ph2 near Maruthi Layouts.

At Hosur TEREX Pegson & Powerscreen to open manufacturing facility in India

  •  8th September 2008

TEREX Pegson & Powerscreen to open manufacturing facility in India
The blessing ceremony with Derek Armour, Plant Manager, Terex India Private Limited and the project management company team - TCE.

Terex Pegson & Powerscreen are opening a manufacturing plant in Hosur, India, which is located 75km from Bangalore near Chennai. This plant is the first part of what is planned as a campus of Terex facilities on the 45-acre site.

India is a rapidly emerging economy and Terex Pegson & Powerscreen machines will play a role in developing that country's infrastructure.

"The Indian plant is expected to start assembly operations in mid-2009 with additional manufacturing processes to be added over the long-term," explains Gary Cardwell, Operations Director at Powerscreen. "Because India imposes significant duties on machinery going into or out of the country, opening this plant allows us to compete much more effectively in this important market.  The factories in Coalville and Dungannon in the UK will continue to build machines for other emerging markets such as Eastern Europe, Russia, Brazil and the rest of world."

Terex Pegson & Powerscreen engineers are now at work setting up the processes and procedures for the new Indian plant, but over time manufacturing processes instituted there could well be adopted in Coalville and Dungannon, thus aiding the company's commitment to continuous improvement and enhanced global competitiveness.

Terex Pegson & Powerscreen recently hosted Terex Division President, Eric Nielsen on his first visit to the Coalville and Dungannon manufacturing facilities. Eric congratulated staff on the continued growth of the companies and the passion and commitment to succeed shown by all.

"The staff at Terex Pegson and Powerscreen are passionate about their business and this comes through in the quality of their manufacturing facilities and of course in the success of the business as a whole," praised Eric Nielsen. "By having a truly geographical distribution, an effective R&D programme which launches the products the industry needs, Terex Pegson and Powerscreen will continue to succeed.  This of course takes a great deal of hard work and I am confident they can deliver and grow."

The plant is located in sipcot ph.2 on krishnagiri road, just 2 km from Maruthi Greenfields villa project and Maruthi Nagar. Apart from this plant Kansai-Nerolac, WEG, First Baby wear are some ot the other MNC's who have started their new plants in the same locations in 300 acres.

Within 2009 all the units will be in production and Maruthi Nagar and Greenfields villa projects is getting ready to meet the heavy demand for residential.
